Lace Rose Window Cascia, St. Francis

99,00 €

Precious macramè needle jewels that reproduce the rose window: an element set on the facade of the churches, that is the highest expression of the creativity and intelligence of artists.

Under the architectural point of view a rose window is a hole, even if it is filled with wonderful stone lace, which creates a special relationship between the exterior and the interior of the church.

More info

A rare Umbrian rose window dating back to 1424 that fuses refined late Gothic elements with neoclassic ones. The original dynamic effect of rotation is due to the fact that the outer wheel seems to move towards the centre, while the inner wheel has an outward centrifugal movement. Classic flowery patterns with acanthus leaves are everywhere: quite large on the border with delicate rose buds which twine around the capitals of octagonal balusters, small and close around the central sculpture of the Holy Virgin with Child.
